anyway ...everyone just study the geiger counter.if u get a question thhen u will be able to get few marks. it will take just 15-20 mins to study it..so study the explanation i had given earlier in thiis thread..cheers.... Smile

GC is filled with Argon gas and traces of chlorine. It also has little potential diff.(the +ve n -ve terminals). when a charged particle is allowed to enter GC through a small opening, it ionizes the gas in GC. the ions thus formed, get more excited because of the presence of the +ve n -ve terminals. thus, more ions are formed due to the collision b/w the existing ions and atoms of the gas. this occurs only for some time, as the potential diff, is very less. the amount of ions produced gives the rate of ionization. more the ions, more is the rate.

so u didnt know the function of it till now huh......it is for finding the radiation levels in a particular place. it is installed in a place where u have to find how much radiation is there. according to the reading u can get the amount of radiation in that place..........an ddont forget to study background radiation and to subtract it from the reading...just refer to my explanation in the previous page... cheers

all others also go through the explanation and study it....u may get some marks and its easy as well..

howmany times have i told u now.....it is there in my goyal textbook and its a newly added topic...my sir said that it is new and would come in the exam as there is nothing else to ask from nuclear physics..... (.fission,fusion,reactor ...everything is removed).....so u better study it....and my sir has 46 years experience and was also chief examiner in the past.. its my advice...iam not giving guaranty that a question will come..but it may come...just study it......u may get some marks.......this is what i have been saying for days now and no one is understanding ?????? if u dont want dont study it......if the question doesnt come dont tell anything to me...its upto u to decide whether to study or not....ok... lol!
