is it :
a. 4 ethyl, 5 methyl heptane
b. 4 ethyl, 3 methyl heptane

..and if a question asks to arrange the elements of any 1 period in the ascending order of their atomic radius, where does the element of group 18 stand?

answer is (b) 4 ethyl, 3 methyl heptane.......

well atomic radius of inert gas is less than the first element of the period but more than other elements of that period...... so it stands at the second last position before the 1st element of the period........but it has to be done only when the question specifically asks for it........
