| guyz how many alpha and beta particles are emitted when uranium nucleus U(A= 238, Z=92) decays to lead Pb(A=206, Z=82)
guyz now u can find the answer but in the exam if they ask for other elements what can we do at the time how to calculate? |

| FOR every alpha (A- 4) and (Z - 2) for every beta A - 0) AND (Z+ 1) Here, A1=238, Z1= 92 , A2 = 206, Z2 = 82 A1- A2 = 238 - 206 = 32 => NO. OF ALPHA EMISSIONS = 32/4 = 8 => due to this Z should change to Z1 - 2*8 = 92 - 16 = 76. but Z2 = 82 AS for each beta Z increases by 1, here increase is = 82- 76 = 6 => no. of beta emiisions = 6 ans: 8 alpha and 6 beta emissions |
