| ans 1. advantages:- 1.harbour facilities 2.tourist attractions like sea beaches 3.fishing occupation can be carried ans 3. fossil fuels are fuels that are formed by the remains of plants and animls buries under the ground years ago |

| ans 2- a.- the rivers are rain-fed b.- the rivers dont freeze cause they lie in the tropical region c.- south india lacks coal supply and hence the increase in demand for hydel power d.- the ranges are accessible for construction of power stations |

| ive also got a few doubts of my own with reference to minerals resources: 1. which region is referred to as the 'ruhr' of india? 2. which city is called the 'pittsburg' of the east and why? 3. name the sectors which have public sector refineries. |

| 1.damodar valley is known as d ruhr of india. 2.in east!!!!pittsburgh is a city in USA.ahhhhhhh....its very famous for its steel n technology.so may b d answer is jamshedpur.well its a wild guess as_24.dont rely on it completely. 3.i didnt even understand dis question!!!!!!!! |

| vaibhav,...check your question...it should be: y it is easier to harness the rivers of south india than those of north india?? ans... are you asking, its easy to harness the rivers of south india for hydroelectricity? my answer....as_24 is right. 1) The south rivers do not freeze as they are near the equator 2) The rivers are fast flowing, coz they flow through uneven deccan plateau, thereby making many rapids and waterfalls, fit for HEP dams. 3) it receives heavy rainfall from the southwest monsoons. thus plenty of water is available. |
