I just read a post about VIT Made by one of its student...
Its really shocking....

One more thing VIT is among 43 Deemed universities who are given warning and 3 year time to improve their conditions or else the will be recognized.

same .. but all this is just something to
attract lot of students .. now let me tell you a
lil about
myself. M in 1st year EEE , From VIT , From New Delhi . I came to vit in
the
second counselin itself. The campus is brilliant but
lemme tell you the xperience's
afterwards.

The management at the VIT is rotten to the core. And i mean it. After
counselling, which
went pretty well , we had the hostel room
allotement. So you might be thinking .. it went
pretty well
too .. but lemme tell yu .. the hostel allotment was the worst.. even
tho these
ppl have the rooms... they will make yu go around
thousand times .. ask yu to waste 3 days..
the chief warden
here is a madman. So after 4 days of fighting,stayin in a hotel i got a
room
. But cudnt blieve it .. man it was 6 bed room the size of 3 normal
size bathrooms put
together.. lolz ... man believe me it
SUCKs.. actually the 3 bed room is converted into six
bed..
cuz they have increased the intake from 1200 to 1600 way more than the
campus can
support ,, and the hostels too .. so the same is
going to happen to YOU. hehehe .. nwz as we
continue .. the TT
looks so SE XY from outside .. but the instant u go in the class in
first
sem .. itz like worse then the classrooms in the govt
college. i dont know but i may be
feelin this cuz i studied in
a good skul in delhi fer 14 years but still this DUZNT
happen...
the scond thing is that each class will contain aroun 120 students ..
lolz ... so
first sem u r dead. they are corrupted takin in
managemnt students more than they shud .
they take bribes n
everything .. they are worse than govt officials.

The teachers at VIT are damn bad.. n thats the truth.. most of the
teachers at vit are
taken straight from college 4 years (
oders ) having no educational teaching xperience.. so
they are
south indians... with south indian incomprehensible accent ( no offense
but its not
understandable ) n some unknown grudge n a mighty
ego against the students. SO the situation
TILL NOW. You are
stuck in a 6 bed room ( if u come l8 fer counselling ) .. u are sittin
in
a very bad class wid 120 students n a sucky teacher whu
duznt know wat he is teaching n its
bloody hot n the room
duznt have an a/c.

* The life at vit is
unbearable. there are almost no xtraciricular activities. u dont know
wat
is happenin wen. i heard that there are more than 50 grps n
activities.. so i joind the
music club as i play guitar n
stuff. But to my astonishment , the music room was friggin
small
... it was like 3mx3m . with broken drumsets n broken guitar n broken
stuff.. n no
proper system fer bands to play . its the
seniours who decide who is goin to play .. but
luckily (
thanks to a surprise visit by DD tv to check the "social" life of the
campus ) we
got a bigger room .. bbut overall lemme tell u. ur
attendance should be 75 % n no grants are
given fer
extraciricular activietes. The management motto is " SHUT UP N STUDY or
Leave the
college ".

* so the teachers
dont know how to teach n there are no xtracircular activites n college
gettogethers.
To add to this .. the study load is too much. We have got the CAM
system ( the
" Continious Assesment Marks " which continuassly
"assess" ur performance at the xam ) so
after a month of
attending classes and not grasping anythng the CAM were here.I
fortunately
passes by studyin a day b4. lol . So after
celebrating .. they were there again .. after a
month to haunt
me ... n then there are friggin model test in labs , so many labs to
cope up
with , so many classes . the studies in vit is mark
oriented. u do practicals widout ne1
xplainin nething.n then
after a month the terminal xams. ultimately the situation is
everyday
ur havin n xam n u get seriously f'd up < get the meaning>

now the situation is ur copin wid xams , fitin a battle everyday hehe .
So u basically
want to socialise wid the ppl around. But
according to vit .. Socialisation = Boy+Boy or
Girl+Girl .. no
boy- girl combination .. gulz are supposed to get in the hostels strait
after
the class ..leavin half an hour margin for friendz to meet... n boyz
are off limits
the gulz hostel in around 100 m radius.the
management thinks that all boys are perverted or
crap like
that.. they are still living in medieval age.Oh i almost fergot.. if
gulz
<hostel>have to leave the campus they cant go out
fer more than 2 hrs n they have to submit
sum kinda card at
the gate so as to know where u r goin. <fer gulz applyin fer vit>

also in the nearby area .. there is NO life .. u shud see the only
cinema hall here .. i
havent seen a single muv after the first
one i saw over here. fullstop.
No barista , no ccd , no place
to hang out wid frenz xcept food court wich u eventually get
bored
off .. no malls nuthin .. vellore is a village.

u mit have seen the placement companies. highest taker is tcs. highest
package offer :4
lakhs. avg 2 lakhs. No foriegn placements ( u
mit have seen many "abroad" placements
cmpanies in the
brochure but after comin here u will know that is all lies .. they get 1
student
place there intentionally n then say that company name. last time IBM
took only 2
students or sumthin like that n they say that IBM
was ther fer campus placements.lolz.
liars.the 9 pointer n the
6 pointer < that is like 90 percentile and 60 percentile > have
the
same placement, so no use to study.

Now fer
hosteleers ///
* boys intime 9 PM. First years. Seniours 9 30.
( what the hell)
* No camera cells allowed < ? why the
hell > n if caught u get after 4 years.
* You dont give ur
laptops to ne1 else or the laptop is seized ( this is the most funny n
stupid
rule )
* You dont watch muv's in the night on ur laptop or
the laptop is seized.
* 9 PM - 3 AM is study hrz. so u shud
study n not make noise.
* There may be routine cheks on your
mobile phone. The pro chancellor may ask to c ur cell ,
search
it , if found any obscene msgs or pix , ur parents will be called.My
frend had his
gf's msg n the registrar called up his father
that he has msgs from his gf. LOOOL.
*u cant enter the hostel
after intime .
*u hafto give attendance every night in the
hostels. ( U heard it right.) So if u absent
someday u hafto
give xplanation.
*if u wanto go fer a vacation : u hafto run
from hostel to main building and back fer at
least 3 times cuz
of take sign from the coordinator, mess supervisor ( for mess refund)
the
chief warden.
* life is very tuf for gulz . the
wardens are very bad n interfering in personal matter.
some
frnd of mine dont even stay out till 8 on tuesdays wen its allowd to
stay out l8 that
day cuz she will ask quesions

they mit suspend u or debar u.
* they may pass ne new new rule
in the middle of the semester without proper guidelines <
for
eg they passed this new rule that 75% attendnce less wont b alloed to
write the xam wen
the sem waS going to end. earlier it was pay
2000 rs n go away. so i thght i will pay 2000
bux ..n i dint
attend the first half.so now i m screwd up >
* " Are you
trying to be the leader ", is the response u get from chief warden if u
take ne
complaints to him . lol . n he is the dumbest person
alive.
* u get very very very bad food.
*its damn
xpensive.
* its damn overcrowded. {one badminton court for
1200 ppl.}
* everyone in the management says they dont know n
go to the other person.
* u shud have influence in order to
survive.
* the tv closes at 9 pm in the night. < due to the
study hrs >
*water coolers on alternate floors. TV's on
alternate floors. I dont know the logic behind
it.

u cant play guitar after 9 or do ne other xtra ciricular activites.

the story till now : u r in 6 bed room ( wich is orignally 3 bed ), u
have sucky
teachers,sucky classes,sucky labs,sucky crowd
,sucky college life , no gulfrend or boy frend
, no xtra
ciricular activites nuthin ,you r in a jail. n thats tha truth.

Extremely good infrastructure

Very good record of placements

Links with foreign universities..............This is something that
many colleges boast of but is simply waste in most of the colleges it's
of no use But in Manipal scenario is different. So students go abroad

SRM:

Disadvantages :

Very high fees
---- About 9 lacs including hostel charges for CSE, IT , BIOTECH,
..........And 13 lacs for aerospace ...........I had attented it's
counselling last year so I have a lot of information

Student
quality : Bad ..........SRMEEE is damn easy and most high rankers prefer
joining other institutes becos of high fees

Advantages

It
is a heaven for people wanting biotech engg..............Perhaps it
will feture its name in top 5 institutes in India providing B.tech in
biotech

Excellent placements.........in fact more than
excellent...........It is rated as 65th best engg college in ratings but
in placements it is ranked 26th...............Also it has promised
international placements ( that means min 8-10 lacs salary) to it's top
100 students in university exams................AND since student
quality is not that good an average student can be in top 100

A
wide variety of branches to choose from.............I do not think any
other institute in India might be providing Engg degree in so many
disciplines

Good infrastructure

One of the most developing
colleges in India............It is likely to feature it name in top 25
engg colleges list in coming 3-4 years

Myself from
orissa so I have lot of information about it

DISADVANTAGES

High
fees: About 7.5 lacs overall in four years including all charges

Advantages

One
of the most developing colleges...........KIITS group was started by
its owner as an ITI centre...............from the money he got from his
dowry...........And its owner would roam on a bicycle but now it has
it's law school, management school, engg school, diploma school, and
schools for primary and HS educationAnd now it's
owner owns a lot of property in AUSTRALIA..........It holds the limca
book of records of the college to be awarded deemed status in min period
- just 6 tears

It guarantees anfd fulfills its promise of 100 %
placement

Its hostel is very good ...........Cheap comared to
VIT, MANIPAL or SRM hostel but it is very good and comfortable

Good
infrastructure

VIT

What I have heard
from most people there is no ragging but
1. Alcohol
2.Cigarettes
3.Drugs
4.Teenage
pregnancies
I mean very "BIGDA" hua students here

Teaching is
not upto the mark

n plz..tel the person 4m whom u got the above article dat amrita institute is very good.....in its teaching.. campus life.. infrastructure.. u get 100% hygienic.. veg food!!! but its rules regardin attendence n studies are stricter!!!! u also have a uniform for 1st year btech!!! (dats the only disadv)!!!
dats wat i have got 4m my friend! certainly its placements are not as gud as the iit's ... but in bgl campus.. specially ppl doin CS..wud get very good placements!!!

it says.. only if u hav a very genuine.. special reason.. u r allowed 2 change it!!
n u cant choose another date of ur choice!!
u hav to get the exam in pilani/ goa/hyd campus only on june 7/8 th.....
i tink it will b too late.. coz the counsellin 4 other exams wil b goin on..

i have done very well in UPTU SEE(Its is for uttar prades's college) but there are just two good government colleges in it.one of them is at walking distance from my home(IET)Earlier i didn't wanted to join it but now i might think about that as well as now i have read so much about VIT.I am giving manipal too but i have heard similar things about manipal.

can you give details of ppl whom you said have left vit?can you give me a link to their orkut/facebook profile or any other contact (other than e-mail id)

After 11th i will try my best to GOOGLE truth about VIT and related colleges.If you can give me a link to the orkut account of such ppl who have left VIT then it might be very helpful for me.

I tried to find the truth related to above posts from different sources.... may be they are made by some frustrated guy... none of the college is perfectly clean and vit is definitely better than most private colleges(other than bits pilani campus) If one is not getting a good college/branch at nit then one may think of going into VIT.....

If u r getting IIT's , Top NIT's, BITS PILANI.GOA, BIT MESRA, Thapar, PEC,DCE,NSIT
NO NEED TO JOIN VIT..

but if u r not getting any of dse colleges dn VIT is next.. Btech in VIT is spreading its wings not even in India but abroad too, havin ABET ACCREDATION and MOU's wid many top notch foreign universities & industries..

placements r good, its all abt how much calliber u hav.. (dont compare it wid colleges mentioned above)

to those who don't know ravi let me introduce him he is a student from first year VIT(Or may be second year)I send him mail to ask about VIT[It is 100% confirmed that his is a VITian)

But I have few more questions.Can you plz. tell when will your exams be over.I am having few more questions... Can you answer my questions between 8th to 15th may as VIT results are coming on 8th.

I am mailing you all my questions.I know all you engg. guys are usually very busy few days before exams.That's the case with all engg. colleges(Even IITs)

don't know about R.V. college but here is my ranking for different college... it is based on feedback i got from different ppl and i haven't taken any bribe like outlook or india today VITEEE / VIT rank vs branch AND Feedback OF VIT - Page 2 Icon_mad

1. Different IITs and BITs pilani

2.NIT trichy,Warrangal

3.NIT Suratkhar,DCE

4.IT BHU,PEC,BIT Ranchi(bit mesra),IIIT Hyderabad

5.NIT allahabad(MNNIT),IIIT Allahabad,VIT,DAIICT,PSG tech

6.Thapar and some other lower NITs(but not the bottom NITs.)

7.Bottom NITs other government colleges like IET in Lucknow,HBTI
kanpur(and other colleges of same level) and private colleges that are of same level as Manipal

*these rankings are based on the feedback i have received from students studying in these colleges or preparing for engg.This is my personal opinion.Anyone can have a different opinion.But many ppl will have same opinion as me. VITEEE / VIT rank vs branch AND Feedback OF VIT - Page 2 Icon_bounce

Another Important thing is that if you choose that branch which genuinely interests you then you can go in college which is slightly lower in rank as your interest will fill the gap between ranks of the colleges and you will surely get a good placement and you will be doing what you want to do at your job.So you will be more efficient at work and are sure to get promotions.... *****Another important fact is that specific college might be good for particular branch eg. HBTI is known for chemical,MNNIT is good for civil etc.In order to know which colleges is good for which branch you must talk to the ppl studying in those colleges.

yep, but my rank is in 10k range....i am getting IT,I will think about that....My bitsat total is 200 (i did 8o ques. out of which 10 were wrong)

nope last yr cutoff was 280 min to get anything even @goa campus... in worst case it might go to say 240-250 but no hope in 200/220
