| Minterm: product of literals e.g: AB'C Maxterm: sum of literals e.g: A+B'+C SOP: Sum of products.... sum of minterms e.g: AB'C+AB'C'+A'BC POS: Product os sums.... product of maxterms e.g: (A+B'+C)(A+B'+C')(A'+B+C) |

| These are basics, anyhow..since u asked...
Actually they are both canonical forms almost like in probability... p(a) = 1/3 p(a') = 1-(1/3) = 2/3
get that..dont u..?
Suppose in F(x,y,z)......
x y z
0 0 0 |0 0 0 1 |1 0 1 0 |2 0 1 1 |3 1 0 0 |4 1 0 1 |5 1 1 0 |6 1 1 1 |7
if the SOP is Sigma(2,4,5,7) then it means that at the values corresponding to 2,4,5,7 the x, y,z are the minterms...
ie at 2 minterm is x'yz' and at 4 it is xy'z'..similarly so for 5 & 7..
and the SOP is just the sum of these minterms...
And POS is just pi(0,1,3,6)...
for that we must take the sum of the values at 0 1 3 6..! hope u understood the relation..! |
