| doon valley project was implemented in uttaranchal.the highlight of the project was community participation in the project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation .the main power was to enthrust the rural communities to build community based organisations and creation and operation of revolving funds from the contributions from individual and groups.the project was successful in self-help projects in the following areas:-constitution of van panchayats, water harvesting tanks, maiti van, women and banking in Majhara, mushroom cultivation, agro forestry n villager's initiative in creating hygenic environment |

| warli tribes.....
given in bracket is mark or the point.
1. The rat-agriculture fable - When the Warlis find that some grains have been eaten by a rat, they simply say that these grains were the rat's share of the crop (1). Thus, they respect the contribution that even the rat makes in their agriculture, although the rat may be destructive (1). 2. The eagle-chicken fable - When the Warlis see an eagle taking a chicken away as its prey, they feel the eagle is not wrong as it is only continuing with its old practice of hunting for food (1). Thus, they are able to empathise with the eagle and treat it as their family friend (1). 3. The domestic animals-man fable - When the Warlis think of domestic animals, they always think of them as their companions and even their equals (1). This tells us that their life is in complete harmony with other living organisms as well as nature in general (1). 4.they do not milk their cows as they think that the milk is for the calf. |
