during the electrolysis of Alumina, what is the solvent used? Cryolite or Fluorspar?

In my textbook, fluorspar is given as the answer, but my teacher is saying it is cryolite

Can you plz tell me the functions/ role of the Fluorspar and Cryolite?

plzzz

Afa I know bth are used
Suspect

Addition of cryo and flou (Short for flourspar and cryolite) Very Happy
lowers fusion point of the mixture ie. from 2050degree C to 950 deg C
Add. cryo enhances conductivity of the mixture
Add. cryo & flou enhances mobility of the fused mixture
Cryo in the molten state of subdivision dissolves alluminium oxide Cool

no....i am asking about the solvent!!!

in electrolyte, both are used..

i will stick to my teacher's answer...

cryolite increases mobility of ions and fluo increases conductivity

read ur tbs properly guys
